Sylvia Mishra is a Herbert Scoville Fellow 2018 at the Nuclear Threat Initiative, Washington DC. Her research focuses on nuclear proliferation and strategy, Southern Asian security and nuclear dynamics, US Policy in Indo-Pacific and emerging and disruptive technologies.

Previously, she was a visiting fellow at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), in Monterey, Calif., and a CSIS Nuclear Scholar Initiative Fellow. She also worked for the Observer Research Foundation’s Strategic Studies Initiative and the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER)-Wadhwani Chair in India-US Policy Studies, New Delhi on advancing India-US defense and security cooperation and US policies in Indo-Pacific.

She has been invited to present papers and deliver talks at national and international platforms like Columbia University, Stanford University, Council on Foreign Relations, the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the United States Strategic Command, Air Force Technical Applications Center Patrick Air Force Base (Florida), Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies and Asia Foundation among forums. She has a number of publications to her credit, including chapters in books, articles in journals and commentaries/opinion pieces for CSIS, The Fletcher Forum of Forum, CNS, Stimson Center, among others.

She holds an MSc degree in International Relations from London School of Economics, a Master’s degree in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies from Middlebury Institute of International Studies, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hindu College, University of Delhi, and a Certificate for completing a course on ‘International Safeguards Policy and Information Analysis’ from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Sylvia is passionate about amplifying the role and voices of women in hard security issues.
