Dr Sudakshina Gupta is currently Associate Professor, Department of Economics, University of Calcutta, India. She teaches Economic theory, Indian Economic Problems and Urban Planning at the postgraduate and M.Phil levels.

She conducts research in PhD and other levels on issues in Transport economics, Ancient Indian Agriculture, Environment, Women’s issues, Education etc.  Her academic career spans almost 26 years, teaching Economics and related subjects in undergraduate and post-graduate levels. She has published some 35 papers in English in national and international journals, books, magazines and conference volumes, and more than 25 in Bengali. She has three published books to her credit and the fourth one is imminent. She regularly presents papers at seminars and conferences, and is invited to lecture at different institutions. She also delivers community lectures.

Her hobby is creative writing in Bengali.
