Stein Ivar Steinshamn is a Professor of Resource and Environmental Economics at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).

He received his Masters degree from the University of Bergen in 1987. He is coordinator of the international masters and doctoral program at NHH in Energy, Natural Resources and the Environment (ENE) and Program Director of the ENE Research Program at the Centre for Applied Research.

Steinshamn has published close to 40 articles in international journals like European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. He has also published some 10 book chapters. He has been heading numerous international research projects funded by European Union, the Nordic Council, various Norwegian Ministries, and the Norwegian Research Council.
