Niels Vandezande is a legal researcher at the KU Leuven Centre for IT & IP Law – IMEC since 2009.

He currently conducts PhD research on the regulatory aspects of virtual currencies under financial and economic law. Working in interdisciplinary applied research projects, his main research interests are in the fields of virtual currencies and electronic payments.

He has also gained substantial expertise working on projects related to security and trust issues, as well as regarding privacy and identity management. He is the editor of Belgian news section of Privacy & Informatie.
