Jon Lindsay

Jon R Lindsay is Assistant Professor of Digital Media and Global Affairs at the University of Toronto Munk School of Global Affairs.

Dr Lindsay studies the impact of technology on global politics, cybersecurity, and grand strategy. He is the author of China and Cybersecurity: Espionage, Strategy, and Politics in the Digital Domain (Oxford University Press, 2015), with Tai Ming Cheung and Derek Reveron, and his research has appeared in leading security studies journals.

He is completing a book, Control Systems: Information Technology and Military Power, which explains how political factors affect information systems in air, cyber, and special operations. Another multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary project investigates technological complexity and strategic deterrence.

Dr Lindsay holds a PhD in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University. He has served in the US Navy with assignments in Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
