Dendup Chophel is Research Officer in the School of Archaeology and Anthropology at The Australian National University, where he achieved his PhD in development anthropology.

He has previously worked at the University of New South Wales in Canberra and the Centre for Bhutan and Gross National Happiness Studies, exploring the policy intersection of culture, change, environment and governance.
