Daniel Poon is an economist. He has previously worked for the UN Conference on Trade and Development, the International Labour Organization, and the North-South Institute.
He was also a Researcher with the North-South Institute (NSI) in Ottawa, and a Visiting Scholar with the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) in Beijing.
Mr Poon holds a Master’s degree from Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration with a specialization in Chinese and Asian development policy strategies.
He has published various articles and commentaries on these issues, most recently an UNCTAD Discussion Paper, “China’s Development Trajectory: A Strategic Opening for Industrial Policy in the South”.
