Brenda Martin

Brenda Martin is a social worker and student in the first Masters cohort at the 3A Institute at The Australian National University. Her work aims to ensure Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used in safe, responsible, and sustainable ways.

Brenda has over eight years of experience working with asylum seekers and people from refugee backgrounds, in roles that include individual trauma counselling, community development, advocacy and management. She is passionate about human rights and finds great joy and inspiration in working cross-culturally.

Brenda joined the Masters program to explore ways of embedding social justice principles and the lived experiences of diverse and marginalised populations in the design, management, regulation, and decommissioning of AI systems.
