Alin Kadfak is a researcher in rural and urban development at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

Alin has been conducting research in the European Union and South and Southeast Asia on environmental and fisheries governance since 2012.

Her recent projects are entitled Sweatshops at Sea and Modern Slavery in Fisheries explore and ask critical questions about labour rights in sustainable fishing policy as a global environmental governance mechanism.

Alin’s research interests are the broad area of environmental social science, with a particular focus on resource governance, livelihood transitions, labour migration, social sustainability, policy discourse, and development in the fisheries sector.

Her publications have appeared in journals such as Environmental Planning, Marine Policy, Journal of Development Studies, Geoforum, and Society & Natural Resources.
