John Rivers is currently a PhD candidate at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology, Research School of Biology, The Australian National University.

He previously completed a Bachelor of Philosophy (Science) at the ANU. His current research concerns the biochemistry of the plant carotenoid pigments, and how this may affect plant productivity and crop nutrition. He is also interested in the potential for public and private sector biological research to contribute to improved food security.
